Industrialization Debate

Position Debate- Explain why you do or do not think that the benefits of living in an industrialized nation today outweigh the negative social consequences of the Industrial Revolution. Give powerful evidence (examples) to support your position. Cite sources for credibility.

Debate Instructions

*OPENING STATEMENT-Each group (Pro-Good vs Con Evil) will have a (minimum) 1 minute opening statement.

 

* (Con) Statement of Evidence (3-4 Min)- (Pro) Followed by rebuttal.

* (Pro) Statement of Evidence (3-4 Min) - (Con) Followed by rebuttal.

 

*CLOSING STATEMENT- Each group will have a (minimum) 1 minute closing statement.

 

Debate Evaluation Criteria:

*Unacceptable "F" or "D"- Project is not attempted or fails to follow the instructions.

*Limited/ Acceptable "C"- Project demonstrates adequate research and preparation. (report)

*Extensive/ Commendable- "B"-Project reflects extensive research, preparation, and support of your position.

*Extraordinary/ Outstanding-"A" Project reflects extensive research, preparation, and logical support of your position, while successfully anticipating and rebutting oppossing arguments.
